Today is a Monday, To make you get rid of the Monday Blues.............EDH!!! I brewed up an old tribal deck that would make your budget tongues dance.
Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas is a new commander from the New Set and do we have a
budget alternative for you.(We Do)
The Deck
How to play it? Simple. Ramp spell. Ramp spell. Ramp spell.
Giant. It’s the perfect combination. But on a serious note, the deck has no
technical side. Its great for beginners or people who’re just on a budget.
The Pay-Of Cards
Pay-Of cards mean cards you want to play after you have your
lands. These cards in the deck are essentially just Giants. After you get your
mana fixed, you just have to drop a couple of these guys and win the game with
that. You can also win the game by just playing your Commander, getting
Experience counters, go to double strike madness town, where all Giants are
friends. These cards include Bearer of the Heavens, Sunrise Sovereign, and
Hamletback Goliath.
The Ramp
When you have cards that cost seven to eight mana, you need
some mana acceleration. But, since we’re Red and White. We don’t get that many
mana guys.
But, HAVE NO FEAR, BUDGET DECK WINS IS HERE. We can always
use the old Artifacts. Slapping in Boros Signet and Traveler’s Amulet will just
make us get enough mana to survive and win.
The Enchantments
We’re not far back on enchantments too with necessary
Giant-like things. Fervor is an amazing card, especially with all of the huge
Giants we have. We really wanted to play True Conviction, but its just too
expensive. But if you have the money please do so. We had to find a replacement
for it and Beserker’s Onslaught did the thing. Sure, we wont get the Life Gain
in there but I don’t think that will hurt us that much.
The Removal
Like all decks, we need at least some Removal. In this crazy
deck we can use our huge creatures to our advantage. Cards like Fling and CrushUnderfoot just seemed like they were built for this moment. Getting some huge
creatures in there wouldn’t be a problem so why not play some support.
Oblation is also a really awesome card to have. Just Imagine
doing it on another players Commander. That would be extremely sad for him.
He’s going to have to search his deck for his leader.
The Toolbox
We have some support cards in the deck like Giant Harbringer
and Stinkdrinker Daredevil. Finding things in your deck is awesome as we’ve
seen with Demonic Tutor, and making your Giants cost cheaper, Even Better.
Slamming Those Lands
Having the lands you want when you want them isn’t going to
be too hard. We’re two colous so we don’t have to think too much. Some Boros
things would do it and with the Gain lands, it would be twice as easier.
